USAGE:
(1.) Глагол to hear в различных значениях характеризуется различными типами синтаксического управления: слышать 1. употребляется беспредложно - to hear smb, smth; to hear that ...; to hear smth over the radio; to hear well. В значении 2. узнать, услышать о чём-либо используются предлоги of, about, а также конструкция to hear that ...; to hear of smth Глагол to hear 3. - узнавать, получать известие от кого-либо использует только предлог from и, как правило, одушевленное существительное: to hear from smb получать известия от кого-либо; We haven't heard from them since January. У нас от них нет никаких вестей с января. (2.) После глагола to hear, обычно, употребляется конструкция Complex Object, в отличие от русского придаточного дополнительного предложения. Инфинитив в этой конструкции употребляется без частицы to: I heard the door open and close. Я слышал, как дверь открылась и закрылась. I never heard her sing. Я никогда не слышал, как она поет.
